Miami is a fun city to visit. The most famous area of Miami is the South Beach and its Art Deco district. But not only South Beach is exciting to visit also Miami downtown is worth to check out. The city has a multicultural vibe, and it is entirely different than any other cities in the States. Through the influence of the immigrants from Cuba and other Latin-American countries, Spanish is next to English the most spoken language in Miami.

I recommend to choice a Hotel at the Mid-Beach district, this is the perfect location to discover the city and is just 10 minutes north of South Beach. The Hotel I can highly recommend is the Faena Hotel Miami Beach or the Miami Beach EDITION Hotel. But note, the Hotels are high priced at Miami Beach. If you are looking for a cheaper solution, check out Airbnb or other small boutique Hotels.

The best real American moment we had cruising up and down the Ocean Drive at South Beach

The best real American moment we had cruising up and down the Ocean Drive at South Beach with our convertible rental car. Put on your cool sunglasses and turn on the music. The South Beach with its famous art-deco buildings is just breathtaking. Especially at night, when all the neon lights are turned on.

At the Ocean Drive are many trendy cafes, bars, and restaurants that invite you to linger. I love to sip on a caipirinha and watch the people. I’m pretty sure when Sir-Mix-A-lot was writing the song „I like big butts,“ he was sitting at one of the bars at Ocean Drive, then everywhere I watched were huge butts in tide shorts. If you think Kim Kardashian has a big trunk, then you haven´t been to South Beach.

The nightlife at Miami Beach is one of the best in America. Everyone will tell you to go dancing at the Liv Nightclub or Wall Lounge at the W Hotel. I much more preferred to get wasted at Broken Shaker from the local bartenders Gabi Orta & Elad Zvi. If you are downtown, go to Ball & Chain with its live music and performance, located in Little Havana district.

The locals like to hang out at the Haulover Beach

At South Beach, you find a clean and wide beach with gentle waves and lifeguards for your safety. Furthermore, it is so much fun to watch the muscle guys working out on the beach with their weights and doing push ups. The girls covered by the most fashionable bikinis and the meaning of less is more everyone takes seriously.

If you prefer a beautiful sandy beach strip where locals hang out, I highly recommend you to go to Haulover Beach, located north of Bal Harbour Shops.

In Miami, you find beautiful beaches all around

Miami has much more to offer than just sunbathing at the beautiful beaches or nightclubbing; it has a huge art scene. The Perez Art Museum is worth for a visit; you find there works from the famous artists Beatriz Gonzales and Diego Rivera. What you can´t miss on your Miami trip is to do gallery hopping in Wynwood, the city’s famous art district.

A fun trip is also to discover the huge mansion of the rich and famous on a boat tour. See the celebrity homes of Rosie O’Donnell, Shaquille O’Neal, Al Capone, and “Scarface” to name a few. At the Ocean Drive, you can visit the Versace Mansion, where Gianni Versage lived and got murdered 1997.

The hop on & hop off bus is a convenient way to discover the city

To see the most in a short time, you have the possibility to take a hop on and hop off bus at the harbor downtown Miami. I know it is a cheesy way to visit a city, but it is easy, and they stop at all places you need to visit. You have the possibility to stop at the Venetian Pool at Coral Gables with its Mediterraneo surrounding, cute bridges, and waterfalls or at the infamous Biltmore Hotel which was the gangster paradise in the 20´s and 30´s. Defiantly you have to hop off at coconut grove to have a stroll through the boho district and a further stop at the Holocaust Memorial.

Of course, Miami is also very famous for shopping in one of the huge luxury malls like the Bal Harbour Shops or street shopping at Lincoln Road.

There is so much to do in Miami, and I can guaranty you will never be bored.
